Bringing Montauk Nightlife to Birthday Parties in NYC

Everything is always open in New York City. Do you want a bagel sandwich at 4 a.m.? Head to a bodega. Do you want to catch a midnight screening of a cult classic film? No problem. But living in the city that never sleeps comes at a price: There’s always something going on, and there’s no rest for the wicked here. But you can only take so much of the VIP-area-only, snooty, $50 cocktail vibe before you need a break. And at Lazy Point, we’re that break.

New Yorkers—and everyone, really—need a place to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. And what do we do when we want to escape? A lot of us head for the Hamptons—or Montauk if we want to enjoy some nightlife. But what if you just can’t get away? Head to Lazy Point, where we’re bringing Montauk nightlife to Birthday parties in NYC!

In Montauk, there are countless red ropes to cross, celebs and socialites. It’s a popular destination for everything from beer lovers to high-energy clubbers. But that commute! You’re looking for a buzz on the beach, but you don’t want to have to hop on a bus for a few hours to get those laid-back beach vibes while keeping a taste of the nightlife. Consider us your nightlife staycation. At Lazy Point, the vibes are always on point—and so is the music.

“We get a lot of traveling DJs, which is fun,” says Lazy Point’s head of bar programming, Jeremy Strawn. “Normally, a DJ will get about one to two sets a month. It depends on how much they’re traveling.”

Of course, Fridays and Saturdays are a different beast, when a DJ will, on average, do eight sets. And DJs from all over the world come in to do a set at Lazy Point.

DJ June, for example, travels all over Asia. “For some reason, she’ll come back to New York to play Lazy Point because she likes it,” says Strawn. “She plays whatever she wants.”

It's this creative freedom that keeps the crowds coming in to enjoy the beachy meets nightlife vibes, too. “Everybody dances,” Strawn admits. “It’s a good day.”

The creativity doesn’t stop at the cocktails at Lazy Point; there’s plenty of variety with the kinds of music DJs choose to play.

“We also have a Latin guy who has made some insane music videos,” says Strawn. He’s awesome and brings a huge Latin crowd with him when he stops by. Literally, about 100-something people follow him around just because he’s a good DJ. And he’s probably here about once a month.”

While we have a few regular DJs that stop by, a lot of times, the sets are a surprise for guests, with no advance notice. “If we get June, Carlos, Justin, those are our stalwarts,” admits Strawn. “If we get one of the hitters coming in, then we put it up on Instagram and stuff like that.” And if not, guests will just have to wait and see when they get there.
